Volunteer

We are glad that you are interested in volunteering with Harbor House Ministries. Volunteers multiply our outreach to the community through time, relationships, and resources, as well as unique talents and perspective. Please look at the many different Volunteer Opportunities and some of the examples below.
Group activities
These can be one-time projects or ongoing commitments to particular programs or ministry. If your group is interested in volunteering, please contact us for more information.
Professional Mentoring and Assistance
Professionals of our extended community have mentored youths in graphic arts, marketing, and web design. They teach ESL, sewing, personal finance, and gardening; offer technical assistance; write or research grants; or provide assistance in building maintenance issues. Harbor House also depends on the expertise of a network of professionals who offer pro bono advice to our directors.
Administrative Help
Committed volunteers support the inner operations of Harbor House—offering a face of welcome to our clients as well as enabling clear and prompt communication to our clients and donors.
Internships
Internships provide hands-on involvement while working alongside our program directors and have the opportunity to explore career options. Past interns of Harbor House now serve in our community as social workers, non-profit community organizers, housing advocates, and creators of children’s educational programs. Lengths of internships vary, and involvement can be tailored to individual calling.
Seminary students intern at Harbor House to experience and be mentored in urban ministry.
